On Self-Care, and the Nature of Indulgence.

On this sunny Sunday in Manhattan, I:

  • got my nails done
  • went out for Korean food
  • bought a dress for work
  • walked 5 miles
  • reveled in the sunshine at a rooftop bar
  • ate insane amounts of guacamole
  • discussed our mutual desire to work as advocates and allies with one of my best friends

The face that I have the discretionary income to spend on so many things is a privilege. The fact that I have friends with whom I can wax poetic on the state of modern America is a gift. It may not have been different or deep or profound, but this weekend was — in its own away — perfect. Take care of yourselves, friends; we’re all going to need it.
